Our Mares Our Mares

Each of our mares at Wannabea Farm has the movement, suspension, positive diagonal-advanced-placement (DAP), temperament, and trainability to produce a high quality Sport Horse foal. In addition:

  • Each mare is bred to the best stallion available to enhance their individual qualities and that of the sire.
  • Because our operation is so small, our mares and foals receive excellent daily individual care and attention.
  • Our mares are also trail ridden, shown, ridden in parades and exhibitions, etc.

WBF Maia WBF Maia

Maia is named after the Roman Goddess of the Fields - the "Good Goddess". She is all we could have hoped for. Sired by Friesian stallion Abe von Reh of Elysium Farm , out of our Private Harmony, Maia moves with boldness, elegance, and grace.  She takes my breath away, and has since she was born.

Maia is registered with the International Georgian Grande Horse Registry and the Friesian Sport Horse Registry, as well as being lifetime registered with the USEF.   See more pictures of Maia here.

Maia is now 4 years old and is being ridden and taken to local shows. She is a very bold, brave trail horse, and a great thinker. She is also soft and responsive, and learning her lessons quickly, as always. Maia is amazing, and we are proud to announce we are keeping her as our next "lifetime horse".

Private Harmony Private Harmony

~ barn name "Susie" ~

Susie is the reason we started it all... she is the most loyal and dependable horse I have ever known, and she is very special to us. She is truly our once-in-a-lifetime horse.

Private Harmony is a 15.1 hand registered American Saddlebred who is sensible, intelligent, and has beautiful balanced, forward gaits. Her trot is HUGE.  But what makes her so special to us is that she is full of "heart" - she is a bold mare who never quits, no matter what we ask of her. We do everything together  - from rugged trail riding, parades, and training and showing in various disciplines from English to Western, even in ranch horse activities and play days. Best of all, Susie is "husband-safe" ~ I don't have to worry about anyone who is on her, no matter where we are or what we're asking of her. Through all of this, she always stays willing, loves to work and learn, and makes us very grateful to have her in our lives.

See more pictures and info on Susie here .

Agape's Legacy Agape's Legacy

~ barn name "June Cleaver" ~

We adopted Mrs. Cleaver from Saddlebred Rescue, Inc. in 2007. She was sent to the New Holland sale with a 1 month old chestnut colt at her side by King's Black Ace, after spending 3 years pulling an Amish buggy. She was thin, tired, and still had her driving shoes on. Mare and foal were both headed to very uncertain futures, if not for the wonderful work of SBR.

June has 15 BHF in 5 generations, and is a very "typey" 16.0h mare. Her 2007 foal is now known as "SBR Let's Pay It Forward", named after the kind benefactor who generously donated enough funds to cover his hospital bill when he was found to have severe pneumonia upon arriving at SBR.

We are excited to announce that her foal, who by the grace of human angels cheated death twice, has completed in two ACTHA competitions, and was taped for an upcoming episode of "Best of America by Horseback", which will be first aired on RFD-TV, June 22nd, 2010 at 7pm!
